KP police obtain technology to trace stolen, unregistered vehicles

Sunday, December 29, 2013 – Peshawar—Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been equipped with the latest SIM technology to trace and identify stolen and unregistered vehicles within seconds.

All information about the vehicle’s registration, chassis number, colour, owner and identity cards will be available to police in just two seconds on their mobile phones. According to officials, 75 SIMS have initially been handed over to police officers.

Police, using these SIMS, have already traced more than 100 stolen vehicles. Police say that mostly stolen or unregistered vehicles are used in carrying out terror attacks and general crimes.

Multan: Police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 18 outlaws and seized drugs and illegal weapons.

Muhammad Arif, Hanif, Pehlwan, Atiq Ullah and Akbar were held with four pistols, a revolver and 17 bullets. Sadar Shujabad police arrested seven people for illegal sale of petrol. Meanwhile, Sargodha Police claimed to have arrested seven accused and seized liquor, narcotics and arms.—Agencies
