Panasonic is reportedly plotting a return to the smartphone market with the launch of a “shock-proof” handset.
Japanese website Asahi claims that the company will announce a rugged, 5-inch device at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month.
The handset is said to be geared towards professionals such as construction site workers, but specs details are yet to surface.
Panasonic launched its waterproof Eluga smartphone at MWC in 2012, but the handset struggled against flagships from the likes of Apple and Samsung, convincing the Japanese firm to shelve its ambitions in the sector.
The company has since invested its resources into other areas, such as smart televisions and home appliances.
MWC takes place in Barcelona between February 24 and 27.
