Turkcell, which has come into limelight as a possible new entrant for upcoming next generation technologies’ auction in Pakistan has termed its visit as a part of its regular evaluation of investment opportunities like in other countries.
Turk Cell responding to a query regarding reports appeared in some section of press and electronic channels stating Turkcell might be interested in the spectrum auction in Pakistan, “Turkcell conducts studies in various countries as part of its ongoing evaluation of investment opportunities on a regular basis”.
It could be asserted government’s effort to bring new entrants in Pakistan for the auction seemingly not to be accomplished as the major mover introduced by the regime till to-date remained cautious to validate its expected investment in Pakistan, said an expert on technologies.
Industry experts were of the view with April 7, 2014, which is an auction date, it is apparently not possible any of the new entrants can participate in auction within this short span, as government should have been visited those countries before the issuance of Information Memorandum (IM).
However, Turkcell did not firmly refuse their interest in forthcoming next generation technologies’ auction in Pakistan as it told Daily Times, “Our Company is performing a pre-evaluation for the respective auction and no decision has so far been taken in the matter.”
